Great lightweight stove

What a fantastic lightweight stove, fits nicely into my camping pans, also has the added benefit of its own ignition system, no matches required, even better and can boil a pint of water in 2 mins. Has wide support arms so you can use a large pan or frying pan on the cooker. I would highly recommend this stove to anyone who is looking for outdoor adventure stove and requires light weight equipment. My brother has even bought one and he is of the same opinion. Great buy!!

If you're looking for a small, powerful, lightweight stove, this one is a real gem. For backpackers who need to consider every gram, there are lighter models available. Having said that, this one is still extremely light and will fit into the smallest of rucksack pockets.I chose this one because of the large burner. It's more efficient at radiating the heat to the edges of the pan, which allows the whole pan to be used rather than just the centre.The piezo igniter is a real asset, no more messing around with matches in the wind.I've owned a few gas stoves, and this is the best one so far.

I've had a Coleman 3004HPX backpacking stove for over ten years now that has done me very well. However, it is quite heavy (about 200g alone, or 290g in its plastic box), so I decided to upgrade. I wanted one with a pizzo lighter (although this increases the weight of course), and chose this one. It weighs in at 146g plus 14g for the bag. The bag is durable but light, and protects the stove. If you stow your stove inside your pans, the bag also protects the pans from being scratched and stops irritating rattles.Initially I was concerned that the large burner (7cm dia) would mean that it wouldn't fit flat inside my pans, which are 6cm deep. However, the burner is removable - something I've not seen mentioned anywhere else. It is held on with a spring, and just pulls off and pushes back on to clip in place, so the packed stove goes down to about 7cm x 12cm x 4.5cm max dimensions.I've also been looking for a stabiliser that will fit the gas canister and make the stove less wobbly. So far the only commercial one I've found is the Jetboil stabiliser which is quite expensive. An economical but light and effective alternative is to use a loop of elastic cord; tie a couple of knots in it so it forms three loops in line; place the top of the gas canister through the middle loop, and attach the stove; then place the stove on the ground and peg down through the other two loops, using lightweight alloy (or titanium) pegs, then the stove is securely attached to the ground. Search you tube for "gas stove steady". Can't think of a way of stopping the pan from sliding off though. :-(My only reservation with this stove: the old 3004HPX had a preheater for the gas (a loop of pipe that passed through the flame) which I assume means it is more reliable in cold weather - the new one does not. I doubt it will make much difference to me though as I'm not likely to use it in extreme conditions. Time will tell.
